The SECURA Insurance Companies appreciate and respect the trust of our customers. As such, we are committed to protecting our customers’ privacy and maintaining their trust. Over the course of a relationship, we need to obtain personal information about our customers and others. We will seek to safeguard that personal information. The following paragraphs outline SECURA’s policy and procedures regarding protection of that personal information and consumer privacy:
Information SECURA Collects or Acquires
We collect nonpublic personal information about our customers from:
- Applications or other forms, by telephone, on-line, directly from the customer or through an insurance agent. This information may include names, addresses, telephone numbers, driver’s license numbers, employment information, home-ownership information, and vehicle information.
- Consumer reporting agencies (e.g., MVRs, credit report data, and claims history information).
- Transactions with us or others, such as policies purchased and premium payment history.
Disclosure of Information
We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our customers to anyone else, except as permitted by law.
We may disclose any of the information we collect or acquire, as described above, to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements.
Safeguarding of Information
We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about our customers to our associates and to third parties who use that information to provide our products or services to them. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal and state regulations to safeguard nonpublic personal information about our customers.
Independent Agents
Insurance agents representing SECURA are independent and may gather and retain personal information about consumers. The use and protection of that information by an independent insurance agent is his/her responsibility. If you have questions about whether, or how, an independent insurance agent uses or discloses such information, please contact him/her.
Applicant Privacy Policy
SECURA Insurance is committed to respecting the privacy of our applicants.
It is our policy to protect the information you provide through resumes, applications, or any other form of informational documentation. The information provided to SECURA will never be sold, nor voluntarily provided to another organization.
We may in certain instances disclose such information if legally required to do so, if requested to do so by a governmental entity or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal requirements of complying with legal process; (b) protect the rights or property of SECURA Insurance; (c) prevent a crime or protect national security; or (d) protect the personal safety of users or the public.
SECURA’s Web Site and Internet Issues
When you visit our Web site, our Web server automatically recognizes and captures your IP address, but not your e-mail address. We are also able to determine the Web site you visited immediately prior to accessing SECURA’s Web site. Our Web site does not use cookies. If you send SECURA a message by e-mail, only those people who have a legitimate reason to receive your e-mail will have access to the information you provide.
User Tracking
We use Hotjar in order to better understand our users’ needs and to optimize this service and experience. Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand our users’ experience (e.g. how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.) and this enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behavior and their devices. This includes a device’s IP address (processed during your session and stored in a de-identified form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), and the preferred language used to display our website. Hotjar stores this information on our behalf in a pseudonymized user profile. Hotjar is contractually forbidden to sell any of the data collected on our behalf.
