Commercial Property and optional endorsements
Not only can SECURA help protect your buildings, treating equipment, and bins, but we can also help cover your inventory using different options to meet your needs. We can cover stock using the traditional Property Business Personal Property coverage option.
Peak Season coverage
We can also use a Peak Season coverage option that increases the limit of insurance for the time period you may need higher limits. This is a cost-effective way to handle seasonality.
Monthly Reporting form
If you’re a very large seed dealer, you might consider adding a Monthly Reporting form to your Commercial Property coverage. This option is particularly helpful since the value and inventory of the seed fluctuates throughout the year. This option is audited at the end of the year, and you only pay for the coverage you needed throughout the year based on the reported values.
Commercial General Liability
A General Liability policy has limit options for bodily injury and/or property damage that your business operations may cause. For example, if you delivered a bag of chemically treated seed corn to a customer with a small hole in the bag, a child could ingest that corn and get sick. If you caused the hole in the bag, it’s possible you could be held responsible for bodily injury and the general liability policy may provide coverage for that bodily injury up to the available policy limit.
Error in Mixture or Delivery of Seed
Error in Mixture or Delivery of Seed is a General Liability option. A seed merchant is bagging an order of Roundup Ready seed corn for a customer and accidentally mixes some corn that is not herbicide resistant into the same order. The customer won’t know the difference between the seed corn and will likely have property damage loss that could be determined to be a result of the seed merchant’s error. This coverage is not only a legal defense coverage, but it can potentially pay for the property damage caused by the error up to the available policy limit.
Agricultural Consulting Errors and Omissions
Agricultural Consulting Errors and Omissions is an General Liability option. Like doctors and lawyers, when the advice you provide as an agricultural expert fails to produce positive results for a customer, it can create an element of potential liability. For example, if you analyze a customer’s soil before recommending a type of seed, you are making a professional recommendation. If you put that recommendation in writing, this coverage option could be used to trigger legal defense coverage, and if found liable, the property damage that resulted from your recommendation up to the available policy limit.
Transportation Floater
While transporting seed to a customer, your employee is in an auto accident. The seed being hauled on the trailer spills onto the road, and the seed is considered damaged in full. Transportation Floater coverage can help cover the stock you’re delivering to customers for many types of loss, including auto accidents, fire, and theft.
