Employment Practices Liability insurance
Coverage for claims made by employees and employment-type claims.
EPLI helps mitigate the financial risks associated with employment-related types of claims.
SECURA’s EPLI insurance can help protect your business from costs associated with these types of claims.
Features of EPLI
Defense costs
How your Liability coverage defines defense costs can have a significant impact, so it’s important to know whether your policy includes compensation for legal defense outside the limits or within the limits of liability.
Defense costs inside the limit simply means that defense costs are deducted from the total policy limit, resulting in less coverage available for any settlement payout.
Defense costs outside the limit means your defense costs are covered outside the policy limits, leaving your policy limit intact for covering any settlement payout.
It’s important to discuss the differences and availability of each type with your independent insurance agent.
In addition to defense costs availability inside or outside your limit of insurance, a defense cost sublimit can be extended to losses involving allegations of wage and labor law violations that are otherwise excluded in many EPLI policies.
SECURA works with many types of industries, providing EPLI solutions for businesses of all sizes.

Common questions about EPLI
What is EPLI and what does it cover?
EPLI protects businesses from claims or lawsuits by employees alleging violations of their legal rights related to employment. Examples of alleged violations would be, but not limited to, gender, age, national origin, religion, and skin color. EPLI also applies in non-discrimination cases, such as wrongful termination, failure to promote, and wage and hour disputes.
Is EPLI mandatory?
Although EPLI is not a legal requirement for businesses, all businesses should consider purchasing it in light of the increasing number of claims and rising costs of employment practices litigation.
