I feel a sense of urgency to talk about the important subject matter of hate and racism. These are issues that have afflicted our country since our existence; topics that are so important to discuss as individuals, and as a company, a community, a nation, and a world. These are issues that we continue to discuss among our leadership team and among all our associates, for we are truly trying to be a better, more accepting, more diverse and inclusive organization for all.
Flat out, we do not support hate. Hate has no home here. Instead, we support love and a sense of belonging for all. We stand for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
It is of tremendous importance to us as individuals, as a community, and as a nation to commit to anti-racist action, to continue to learn, and to continue to promote acceptance and respect for all.
Yesterday, I sent a message to all 900 of our associates to share this same message; to express my sadness at the continuation of hate crimes and discrimination; to listen to their thoughts and ideas; and to remind us all to continue to lead by example, standing against racism and in support of our Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, and all BIPOC communities. Today, led by our Diversity & Inclusion committee, we hosted our second Day of Understanding panel discussion to encourage open dialogue and conversations about inclusion, anti-racism, and more. I’m proud of the associates who joined me to ask and answer questions, and talk openly. I’m proud of the steps we’re taking to do better. And I also know that neither I, nor we as a company or individuals, have all the answers. But we can continue to learn…and continue to listen to all those who are marginalized, or who are experiencing hate, and be BETTER. You have my promise of better, for all.
We are better together. Together, in love and support, we win.
